14 Line Up to Contest Grade 3 Cardinal Handicap

The Grade 3 $100,000 Cardinal Handicap features a full and competitive field of 14 fillies and mares set to contest the mile and an eighth event on the grass Saturday, November 22 at Churchill Downs.

I’m Already Sexy is the 3/1 morning line favorite for trainer Wayne Catalano after finding her career-best form this year with wins in the Grade 3 Modesty and Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf to go with a grade 3 placing in the Mint Julep.  In her last start, I’m Already Sexy ran a credible fourth against an extremely talented field in the Grade 2 Goldikova after shipping west to Santa Anita.  The four year-old daughter of Ready’s Image has returned to Kentucky to work impressively including a five furlong move November 13 at Churchill Downs in 1:00 3/5 with dogs up.  Calvin Borel takes the mount on I’m Already Sexy who has been ridden almost exclusively by Florent Geroux.

Nellie Cashman should be the right price

With I’m Already Sexy holding a tactical advantage on the rest of the field it will likely take a runner with enough early speed to keep the favorite in their sites to earn the victory.  Nellie Cashman (8/1) returns from a two month layoff, and ships in from Maryland after a steady work tab.  The daughter of Mineshaft is a grade 2 winner and multiple graded stakes-placed on turf.  She can sit just behind I’m Already Sexy and find herself in good position if the top one falters turning for home.

Bitty Kitty goes for fifth straight

Bitty Kitty (8/1) is riding a four race win streak for trainer Brendan Walsh and should be coming late over a Churchill Downs surface where she has excelled winning twice in as many starts last spring.
