On Monday at Saratoga, the featured race is the inaugural running of the $100,000 Summer Colony Stakes. Scheduled to be run at a mile and an eighth on the main track, the race has drawn a field of six fillies and mares.
The morning line favorite at 9-5 is Natalie Victoria, a six-year-old daughter of Indian Ocean trained by Michelle Nevin. Jose Ortiz will be back aboard after Jose Lezcano piloted the bay mare to a seventh-place effort in the Molly Pitcher (G2) in her last start. Two races back, she earned the first stakes win of her career in the Monmouth Beach Stakes. The ten-time winning mare will break from post position five.
Endless Chatter making Saratoga debut
Second choice at 5-2 on the morning line is Endless Chatter who will break from the rail under Joel Rosario. The four-year-old filly is trained by Chad Brown and was purchased for $77,000 by Alpha Delta Stables as a yearling. She will be making her stakes debut after back to back victories at Parx Racing and has won three of her eight starts. Bred by Claiborne Farm, the bay daughter of First Samurai will be making her first start at Saratoga.
Graham Motion to saddle multiple stakes winner
Also in the field is Zucchini Flower, tabbed at 7-2 on the morning line for Graham Motion. The five-year-old mare will be ridden by Irad Ortiz, Jr. and will be carrying the colors of owner and breeder Albert Frassetto. Fourth in the Molly Pitcher (G2) in her last start, she won four of her nineteen starts and is going for her first win of the year. Two of her four career victories have come against stakes competition and she will break from post position two.
