Mark Hennig will saddle Lucky Lurie as the favorite at odds of 9-5 on the morning line. A bay son of Girolamo, he will be stepping up to stakes competition after breaking his maiden in his career debut. Competing against fellow state-breds at Belmont Park on June 25, he dueled with Love That Jazz for five furlongs before he prevailed by a neck as the favorite. Javier Castellano will be aboard replacing the injured Rajiv Maragh and they will break from the inside post.
Love that Jazz getting a rematch with the favorite
Second choice at 2-1 is Love that Jazz who will be a maiden taking on stakes competition for trainer Steve Asmussen. A bay son of Not For Love out of a stakes placed mare, he was second behind Lucky Lurie by a neck in his career debut and will get a rematch with that rival. He will have Irad Ortiz, Jr. in the irons and they are scheduled to break from post position two as he tries to break his maiden.
Unraced entry looking to make an impact first out
Owners Chester and Mary Broman, Sr. will send out an entry of Manipulated and Spin Cycle at odds of 4-1. James Jerkens trains Manipulated, a bay son of Malibu Moon, and he will be making his career debut with Luis Saez aboard from post position four. Spin Cycle is an unraced son of Hard Spun for trainer John Kimmel and he will make his first start with John Velazquez in the irons from post six.
