At Gulfstream Park on Saturday, the stakes action will continue with the $150,000 Suwannee River Stakes. Restricted to fillies and mares, the Grade 3 event will be contested at a mile and an eighth on the turf and has drawn a field of eight.
Habibi (NZ) has been installed as the morning line favorite in the wide open field at odds of 3-1 for trainer Mark Frostad. A seven-year-old daughter of Ekraar, she has won seven of her nineteen starts and will be trying to earn the first graded stakes win of her career. She is trying to return to form after several poor performances and was most recently fourth in the La Prevoyante Handicap (G3). Paco Lopez will be aboard and they will break from post position six.
Tammy the Torpedo looking for first graded stakes win
Second choice at morning line odds of 7-2 is Tammy the Torpedo, one of two horses in the race for trainer Chad Brown. A four-year-old daughter of More Than Ready, she has won three of her six starts and was graded stakes placed as a juvenile. She is making a step up in class after winning the Tropical Park Oaks last time out. Joel Rosario will be aboard and they will break from the rail.
Rainha Da Bateria improving with each start
Also in the field at morning line odds of 8-1 is Rainha Da Bateria for trainer Graham Motion. A four-year-old daughter of Broken Vow, she has been on the board in half of her ten starts and will be trying to earn the third victory of her career. She was last seen finishing second in the Mrs. Revere Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs and will break from post four under jockey Luis Saez.
