Loaded Field of Ten Set for $100,000 Autumn Miss Stakes
On Saturday at Santa Anita, three-year-old fillies will take to the turf in the 3rd edition of the $100,000 Autumn Miss Stakes. The Grade 3 race will be run at one mile and has drawn a full field of ten with four sophomore fillies waiting on the also-eligible list.
Topping the field at morning line odds of 5-2 is the Canadian star, Lexie Lou for trainer Mark Casse. The bay daughter of Sligo Bay (IRE) will be making her first start outside of Woodbine and has won six of her fourteen starts, most notably the Queen’s Plate in July. Corey Nakatani will be aboard as she attempts to earn the first graded stakes victory of her career and they will break from post position five.
Alexis Tangier undefeated on the turf
Richard Mandella will saddle Alexis Tangier, second choice on the morning line at odds of 7-2. The three-year-old daughter of Tiznow is a perfect three for three on the turf, two of which came at Santa Anita. She earned the first stakes victory of her six-race career last time out in the Unzip Me Stakes with a narrow victory over eight rivals. Victor Espinoza will remain aboard from post position seven.
Diversy Harbor trying to return to form
Also in the field at odds of 9-2 is Diversy Harbor who is returning to action off of a brief freshening since a sixth-pace finish in the Del Mar Oaks (G1). Trained by Tom Proctor, the bay daughter of Curlin will have Mike Smith aboard from post six. After winning her career debut at Santa Anita on the turf in January, she won the China Doll Stakes in her subsequent start. She has not hit the board in her last two races.
