On Saturday at Gulfstream Park, the stakes action will continue with the $75,000 Spectacular Bid Stakes. Restricted to three-year-olds, the race will be contested at six and a half furlongs and has drawn a field of eight colts and geldings.
Morning Fire headlines the field as the morning line favorite at odds of 5-2 for trainer Keith Nations. A chestnut son of Freisan Fire, the Pennsylvania-bred has been on the board in eight of his nine starts and will be trying to notch his fourth career victory. He is coming out of a third-place finish behind Destin, currently regarded as a top contender for the Kentucky Derby (G1), in the Sam F. Davis Stakes (G3). Daniel Centeno will be aboard and they will break from post position four.
Epic Journey trying for first stakes win
Second choice at morning line odds of 3-1 is Epic Journey for trainer Anthony Granitz. Purchased for $55,000 as a juvenile, he has one win from four starts and will be trying to earn the first stakes victory of his career. He broke his maiden in his third career start and was last seen finishing second in the Pasco Stakes in his stakes debut. Pablo Morales will be aboard and they will break from post position seven.
Class test for undefeated Tiger Blood
Also in the field at morning line odds of 7-2 is Tiger Blood for trainer Baltazar Galvan. A chestnut son of Cowtown Cat, he is undefeated from two starts and will be stepping up to stakes company for the first time. He broke his maiden at first asking and followed that up with a victory against optional claiming competition at Tampa Bay Downs. Julian Leparoux will be aboard and they will break from post position two.
