My Miss Sophia Taking On Six Rivals in Contentious $500,000 Diana Stakes
Bill Mott will saddle My Miss Sophia as the favorite at odds of 5-2 on the morning line in the compact but competitive field. A four-year-old daughter of Unbridled’s Song, she has won three of her eight starts and was a graded stakes winner on dirt last year. Last time out, she made her turf debut a winning one with a front-running score in an optional claiming race at Belmont Park. Joel Rosario will be in the irons and they will break from post six.
Tepin going for fourth straight victory
Second choice at 3-1 on the morning line is Tepin for trainer Mark Casse. A four-year-old daughter of Bernstein purchased for $140,000 as a yearling, she has won five of her eleven starts and enters this race off of a three-race win streak. Her last two wins have come against graded stakes competition, most recently in the Just a Game (G1) at Belmont Park. Julian Leparoux will be aboard and they will break from the rail.
Stephanie's Kitten always a force at the Spa
Also in the field at morning line odds of 7-2 is Stephanie’s Kitten for trainer Chad Brown. A homebred daughter of Kitten’s Joy for Ken and Sarah Ramsey, she is a nine-time winner and was a Breeders’ Cup winner as a juvenile. This will be her third appearance in the Diana Stakes (G1) and she has been third and second the past two years. Irad Ortiz, Jr. will be aboard and they will break from post two as she goes for her second win of the year.
