Pretty N Cool Going For Third Straight in $300,000 Del Mar Debutante
Bob Baffert will saddle Pretty N Cool who has been tabbed as the favorite at odds of 2-1 on the morning line. Purchased for $160,000 as a yearling, the gray daughter of Scat Daddy is undefeated from two starts and will be trying for her second consecutive graded stakes win. After breaking her maiden in her debut, she came back to win the Sorrento Stakes (G2) at Del Mar in her next start. Martin Garcia will be in the irons and they will break from post position three.
Songbird making stakes debut after maiden win
Second choice at 5-2 on the morning line is Songbird, one of three fillies in the race for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. A $400,000 purchase as a yearling, the dark bay daughter of Medaglia d’Oro is out of the graded stakes winning mare Ivanavinalot. Songbird broke her maiden in her first career start last time out in front-running fashion over eight rivals. Mike Smith will be back aboard and they will break from the outside post.
Come to Mischief trying dirt for the first time
Also in the field at morning line odds of 8-1 is Come to Mischief for trainer Peter Walder. A bay daughter of Into Mischief, she sold for $500,000 earlier in the year after breaking her maiden against stakes company at Woodbine. She won the My Dear Stakes by six-lengths and lit up the toteboard at odds of 18-1. She will be racing over conventional dirt for the first time and will have Gary Stevens aboard from post two.
