West coast shipper Sharla Rae is the 5/2 morning line favorite for trainer Doug O’Neill after winning the California Oaks February 7 at Golden Gate Fields in her last start. Sharla Rae has run three races on synthetic footing in her career – all stakes events – winning two and placing fourth in the Grade 2 Sorrento Stakes August 6 at Del Mar. The daughter of 2005 Preakness and Belmont winner, Afleet Alex, has won four of eight starts overall for earnings of $169,595. Jockey Drayden Van Dyke gets the call breaking from post nine.
Sweet Success tries stakes foes after maiden score
Sweet Success (4/1) ships in from Gulfstream Park for trainer George Arnold after breaking her maiden February 8. The Candy Ride filly has one win in three starts and moves sharply up the class ladder to test stakes foes. Sweet Success will be ridden by Joel Rosario and is set to break from post seven.
Don't Leave Me fits nicely
Canadian shipper Don’t Leave Me began her career with a pair of impressive performances over the Polytrack at Woodbine, but was slightly overmatched in her last start, finishing sixth in the Grade 2 Netalma Stakes September 13. Trained by Malcom Pierce, Don’t Leave Me is a well-bred daughter of Lemon Drop Kid who should improve with racing experience.
