The $500,000 San Antonio Stakes February 7 at Santa Anita may only be a grade 2 event, but the race has easily drawn the most competitive and accomplished field of 2014 with three standout grade 1 winners: California Chrome, Shared Belief, and Hoppertunity. 
The featured race on Saturday at Gulfstream Park is the 60th running of the $500,000 Donn Handicap. The Grade 1 race will be contested at a mile and an eighth on the main track and has drawn a field of ten colts and geldings. 
On Saturday at Gulfstream Park, the track will host the inaugural running of the $75,000 H. Allen Jerkins Stakes. Scheduled to be run at two miles on the turf, the race has drawn a field of eleven colts and geldings. 
The Grade 3 $100,000 Sweetest Chant starts an all-stakes late pick 4 January 24 at Gulfstream Park, as a field of ten three year-old fillies is set to contest the one mile race on the grass. 
On Saturday at Gulfstream Park, some of the most promising three-year-old fillies in the country will compete in the $200,000 Forward Gal Stakes. The seven-furlong contest offers Grade 2 status and has drawn a field of eleven. 
The Grade 3 $200,000 LeComte is the featured event and the last of five stakes races on the card January 17 at Fair Grounds with an eleven three year-old colts set to go one mile and seventy yards. 
The featured race on Saturday at Gulfstream Park is the $250,000 Florida Sunshine Millions Classic. The mile and an eighth contest, restricted to horses bred in Florida, Maryland, New York or Pennsylvania, has drawn a field of six. 
On Saturday at Santa Anita, the featured race is the 78th edition of the $200,000 San Pasqual Stakes. Scheduled to be run at a mile and a sixteenth on the main track, the Grade 2 race has drawn a field of eleven colts and geldings. 
The $100,000 Ginger Brew Stakes for three year-old fillies January 3 at Gulfstream Park features a field of ten set to go seven and a half furlongs on the turf course in a contentious race.
