On Saturday at Gulfstream Park West, the Florida breeding program will be showcased in Sunshine Million Preview Day. The $100,000 Millions Turf Preview has drawn a field of eight Florida-bred horses to compete in the mile and a sixteenth turf race. 
The Turf Mile is one of the more intriguing betting races of Breeders’ Cup weekend with the defection of Wise Dan – a back to back winner of the race and two-time American Horse of the Year. 
On Saturday at Santa Anita, the Breeders’ Cup action continues with the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint. Run at six and a half furlongs on the downhill turf course, the Grade 1 race has drawn a full field of fourteen with two addition contenders on the also-eligible list. 
On Saturday at Santa Anita, three-year-old fillies will take to the turf in the 3rd edition of the $100,000 Autumn Miss Stakes. The Grade 3 race will be run at one mile and has drawn a full field of ten with four sophomore fillies waiting on the also-eligible list. 
The $300,000 Empire Classic is the featured race October 18 at Belmont Park and the last of eight stakes races on Empire Showcase Day. 
The featured race of Belmont Park’s loaded Empire Showcase card on Saturday is the $300,000 Empire Classic Handicap. Restricted to horses foaled in New York, the mile and an eighth contest has drawn a field of eight. 
On Saturday at Belmont Park, the featured race is the 55th running of the $200,000 Knickerbocker. The Grade 3 race will be run at a mile and an eighth on the turf and has drawn a field of eight with one entered for the main track only, including defending winner Za Approval. 
Close Hatches looked to be the one to beat in the Distaff division, but her surprisingly poor performance in the October 5 Grade 1 Juddmonte at Keeneland as the 2/5 favorite is sure leave handicappers feeling less confident. The four year-old daughter of First Defence struggled home a well-beaten fourth in her first defeat in 2014 and really never did any running at any point in the race. 
On Saturday at Keeneland, reigning Horse of the Year Wise Dan will continue his quest towards competing in his third Breeders’ Cup Mile in the $1 million Shadwell Turf Mile. The Grade 1 race has drawn a field of seven rivals to try to take on the popular champion.
